Do clergy taxes sometimes confuse you? Don’t feel as if you are the only one. Clergy taxes can be complicated. This webinar is designed to help you understand how compensation is taxed including salary, housing, and other benefits clergy may receive. It will be helpful for clergy, staff and lay leaders as taxes impact budgets and letters of agreement.

Nancy Fritschner is a CPA with a particular interest in clergy taxes as she is a clergy spouse. Nancy graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Accounting and has worked for various CPA firms in Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Alabama. She taught accounting at The University of the South and served as a finance faculty member of CREDO for many years. Nancy has developed and presented courses on clergy compensation, clergy taxes, and on church accounting for various national and diocesan church events, and for the Office of Professional and Continuing Education at Auburn University. She is one of the editors of the annual Tax Guide for Episcopal Ministers as well as Federal Reporting Requirements for Episcopal Churches. She currently lives in Louisville, Kentucky.

A Day at The Bishop’s Summit

7/8/2019

“Inspiring. Energizing. Thought provoking.”

On Saturday, June 29, 2019, The Bishop's Summit on Faith & Giving brought together approximately 90 clergy and lay leaders from around the Diocese to learn how fundraising is profoundly anchored in ministry.
Joining our diocesan family were several congregations from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA) and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ.) Preacher and teacher, the Rev. Dr. Starsky Wilson helped us to understand the "theology of sufficiency" with energy, inspiration and imagination. Melissa Spas, Th.M. and the Rev. Meredith McNabb of the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving guided us with practical tools for nurturing generosity. The day's presentation along with Lake Institute's resource materials are now available.
