The Rev. Dr. Carol Pinkham Oak, Diocese of Maryland, will guide the development of curricula for the Pathways Pilot Parishes’ 2017 workshop series, according to Melissa Hickman, Pathways to Vitality Program Director.
Carol has served urban, suburban and small town parishes over the course of 30 years of ordained ministry, including ten years as Rector of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ellicott City, Maryland. Serving this historic parish founded in 1822, Carol’s ministry was to guide the parish and school community toward serving as a resource congregation for Ellicott City, the Diocese of Maryland, and the Episcopal Church. She celebrated her retirement on May 1, 2016 and now is serving a part-time interim ministry at St. James, Monkton, Maryland.
Prior to St. John’s, Carol was the Rector of St. James Church, Goshen, New York for nine years and Associate Rector at Christ Church, Alexandria, Virginia for six years. While at Christ Church, she developed The Foundations for Spiritual Leadership Program, a mentoring and leadership formation initiative for new clergy funded by Lilly Endowment Inc.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science from the University of Colorado, a Master of Divinity from Berkeley Divinity School/Yale University, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Congregational and Leadership Development from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary.
Carol believes learning, teaching and leading in the Christian life require the engagement of heart, mind, and spirit — all of which will benefit our Pathways Pilot Parishes on their journeys to long-term sustainability.
